Making Process

Step 1
First, I use the same factory that I created for assignment 2 for this final assignment, and make it slightly bigger than the original one.

Step 2
Next, I put the background color with black to white gradient. (Only for temporary. May/Will change later on) Then I draw the line using Pen Tool.

Step 3
Again, Pen Tool is used to draw smoke that are emitted from the chimneys. Then, Mesh Tool is selected to apply multiple gradients to the smoke.

Step 4
Next, Gaussian Blur effect is applied the smoke so that it will look more realistic.

Step 5
The next step is to add water texture to the river. Just like the previous assignment, select the river area and make opacity mask. Then Rectangle Tool is selected, rotated to the right angle; and the texture is placed on the river area. One of the best site to get high resolution texture images is at www.cgtextures.com

The same steps are repeated for the ground.

I selected some of the colours from colour swatches and dragged it into the gradient slider.

Step 6
Text! Type Tool is selected and I chose the most suitable font and colours to be used for my poster.

I decided to put this text vertically so i select "Vertical Type on a Path Tool" option.

OR by using Transform Panel.

Step 7
As expected, the printing shop doesn't have the font that I'm using. So I use my backup file instead of the first one. The red line under the word "STOP" is drawn using Paintbrush Tool to make the word look even more noticeable and important.

Step 8
Final stage is to put my symbol at the bottom of my poster and with a few more light editing, its all done:D

hi siew yun, very nice to read your elaboration on the making of. Good effort to explore opacity mask, and applying texture on it.

One thing to comment is the text, STOP is a little bit too obvious until I cannot match it with the rest of text. Font may change to other type to suit the mood of polution, so far the text is too clean. Just my thought, overall, your works is good. I like the smoke too.
